   Pen Portraits

Mrs Heywood (Co-opted Governor):  I am an experienced Customer Contact Manager and passionate about people.  I want to make a positive contribution to children's education, especially in the local area near to New Charter Housing Association, where I work.  I would like to see all children get a good education as it is so often an effective way of having good choices available for the future.

As a governor, I will work with my fellow governors to be ensure that the school provides the best that it can for our children.  I am strongly supportive of what the Senior Leadership Team are striving to achieve at Hurst Knoll St James, and will continue to challenge and be a critical friend to them.

Mrs Summers (Foundation Governor): I have been a Foundation Governor for at least 10 years.  It has been my privilege to see the school grow from strength to strength; promoting Christian values within the ethos of the school.

"Every Child Matters" is a phrase well known within education establishments,  Hurst Knoll St James’ has embraced this whole heartedly.  As a member of the Governing Body I work hard with other governors and the Senior Leadership Team to inspire quality learning across the whole school.

Mrs Tindall (Parent Governor): I became a parent governor in September 2015. I have 2 young children who attend Hurst Knoll St James' Primary School.

Education is something I care about a lot. Having 2 young children and working as a nursery practitioner for 3 years I understand the importance of making sure that all children progress to the best of their ability.

Mr Bevan (Parent Governor): I started as a Parent Governor in September 2016. With me being a pupil, my mum Mrs Bevan being a member of staff and now my own children going to the school, Hurst Knoll St James' school has been part of my life for the last 26 years (and will be for some time!).

Given my close ties to the school, its performance and the way in which it helps the children that attend become all they aspire to be is paramount to me and I hope that by being a Governor, I can do my part to ensure this continues to happens.

Rev'd Roger Farnworth (Foundation Governor): I have just recently been appointed as the ex-officio foundation governor at Hurst Knoll St. James' School. This role in a church school is usually undertaken by a member of the clergy.

I have been a governor in 4 of the church schools in the Parish of the Good Shepherd and I am delighted to be able to undertake this role here at Hurst Knoll St. James' School. At present I am ex-officio governor at Holy Trinity School and St. James' School as well.

I have a degree in civil engineering and worked in that  industry until I was 37 years old. After a short time working in Uganda, I trained for the Church of England ministry and became a curate in Middleton before moving to Ashton-under-Lyne in 2003.

I am regularly in school taking assemblies, and have done this for nearly 14 years now.
